He didn’t know why he got so agitated around her. She made him feel like that pansy William and it pulled at his insides. But nonetheless, his demon wanted her for his own. It wanted to posses her, hold her, kiss her, and love her. And all over again, it’d be screaming at him to be the demon he should be and to get over this human fast. But either way, when he closed his blue eyes, she was there smiling and taking those side long glances that made him, the man and demon quiver with joy. But he was still a Master vampire, so he kept his cool.
“Hey Spike!” Willow said as she walked into Giles’ apartment with Tara trailing behind her. Spike glanced up from the television and then up at Willow nonchalantly and nodded at her and Tara. Willow went straight to the kitchen and Tara sat in the chair across from Spike and stared at him. Spike could feel the blonde witch’s stare and it itched at him as she bore a hole into him.
“What are you looking at Glinda?” Spike asked catching Tara off guard. Slowly she titled her head to the side observing him and he stared back into her eyes.
“Y- you can’t have her y-you know. S-she loves me.” Tara said quietly as she bore her eyes into his. Spike’s eyes flickered amber at the menial threat. Slowly he smirked and leaned forward in Tara’s direction.
“What makes you think I haven’t had her already?” Spike asked as Tara’s mouth opened and closed like a fish. Just as Tara was about to respond, Willow came back into the room and Spike sat back and looked back to the program he was watching. Willow glanced at the two as she felt the tension in the room. She handed Spike a warm cup of blood and Tara a bottle of water as she went and sat on the arm of the chair that Tara was in.
“Sooo, what’s with the quiet?” Willow asked calling the two both out into the open. Spike shrugged and Tara slid out of the chair that she was in and moved to stare out the window.
“W-Willow, I-I need to speak with you.” Tara said looking over her shoulder as she put the water bottle down and went outside. Willow frowned a bit.
“Oka-ay.” Willow answered as she followed Tara out into Giles’ courtyard.
Spike stood quickly and went to the window. He could see the blonde witch flailing her arms as Willow watched her in confusion. He leaned forward a bit to hear what was being said.
“I-I see him looking at you and I know what’s going on.” Tara said accusingly. Willow flinched back at the accusation.
“Tara, what are you talking about? Who’s looking at me?” Willow asked as her voice wavered a bit. Tara motioned towards the apartment.
“Spike! How can you not see it? He’s always looking at you. He always looks out for you. He hates the rest of us, especially me.” Tara answered as tears filled her eyes. Willow went to take her hand, but Tara backed away from her. Willow looked defeated.
“Baby?” Willow asked in confusion. Tara shook her head and breathed in slowly. As she opened her eyes, she looked over Willow’s shoulder and saw Spike through the window.
Spike looked back at the blonde witch in surprise. Not only had she seen him but hadn’t said anything. He wasn’t sure why she was so insecure, but he knew he had given her a reason to be.
Willow followed her gaze and saw Spike walk away from the window.
“H-he loves you, you know? More than…” She paused. “Possibly more than me.” Tara said as looked down at the ground. Willow was shocked and tears filled her eyes and spilled over.
“You don’t love me?” Willow asked sounding childlike. Tara shrugged.
“Not like he loves you. It’s forever for him. He’ll love you forever, even if it’s from afar. He’ll be there when I can’t be. He’ll be more devoted to you than I could be.” Tara answered without stuttering this time.
“You don’t want to be with me anymore?” Willow asked just as Spike moved into the doorway of Giles’ apartment.
“No. I can’t. I’m going back home to my family, and to…” Tara started. Willow’s eyes widened.
“To who?!” Willow screamed at Tara. Spike walked towards the two witches slowly and instinctively.
“To Anna. My girlfriend back home. I’m sorry Willow.” Tara finally said as she walked away from Willow and into the night. Tears flowed down Willow’s face as Spike came up behind her quietly. She felt him behind her and turned into his arms. Spike wrapped his arms around her as she cried into his chest. He rubbed his hands up and down her back soothingly, as he put his chin on top of her head.
“She’s gone Spike. She doesn’t love me.” Willow said as her words were muffled as she talked into his shirt. Spike held her tighter and nodded against him.
“I heard everything Luv.” Spike confessed. Willow pulled back and bore her green eyes into his blue.
“Is it all true?” Willow asked, her eyes glistening. Spike smiled down at her. She was more beautiful than any woman that he had ever laid eyes on.
“Every word, Pet. Every word. I would walk to the end of the world and back for your happiness. I love you more than my own undead life. I’d give up all this for you. I love you.” Spike answered feeling more like William than he had in a long time.
“I’m glad.” Willow said with a smile. Spike smiled back down at her. He knew that she wasn’t going to say that she loved him back. But he knew deep down that she would eventually. Because he had forever, and eventually she would too.
“Walk me home Spike?” Willow said taking Spike’s hand.
“Always.” Spike answered as the two walked out into the night.
